Morningstar UMC
Morningstar is a friendly church family in the Steele Creek area of Charlotte. Please join us for Sunday morning worship at 10:30! You might find:
- An atmosphere of joy that we credit to Jesus working in and through us.
- A warm welcome – we love making new friends!
- Folks dressed up and dressed down – so please come dressed however you are comfortable.
- A laid back atmosphere, where there’s plenty of grace to go around.
- Children running around. We have a nursery for ages 0-2 for the whole service, and “Children’s Church” for ages 3-10 for the 2nd half of the service. Children are also welcome to stay in church if they’d prefer.
- Coffee, tea, and other hot beverages (and sometimes treats!) for you to enjoy.
- A guitar-led service that’s mostly contemporary but includes some traditional elements, like a hymn here or there.
- Sermons that start with Scripture and often include storytelling and interaction.
Rev. Mary Brown, Pastor
Rev. Mary came to Morningstar in July of 2010. She earned a B.A. in English from Emory University in 2000 and a M.Div. from the Iliff School of Theology (with an unofficial minor in snowboarding) in 2003. After seminary she spent 7 years working for a backpacking ministry called Wilderness Trail, where she met her wonderful husband, Alan. She and Alan welcomed their daughter into the world in 2010. Mary loves to read, Scrabble, hike, root for the Panthers and the Braves, and laugh as much as possible.
Rev. Wayne Lynch, Assistant Pastor
Rev. Wayne officially came to Morningstar in July of 2011. He attended American International College on a baseball scholarship and graduated with a degree in Sociology. He’s married to the lovely Nina and has a 16-year-old daughter, 3 grown sons and 4 grandchildren. He enjoys golf and tennis and cheering on the Red Sox.
Bob Wujciak, Worship Leader
Bob and his awesome wife, Linda, lead Morningstar in praise songs each Sunday. In addition to their musical talent, Bob’s big smile and Linda’s not-so-secret love of hand motions bring a joyful spirit to our worship service.
