A Statement of our Values
Community Created by Christ Sharing one faith, one Lord, and one Baptism, we are called to engage in a life of ministry with one another and the world. Through Baptism we share a life in Jesus that brings together people of every tribe, nation and language. Communion tells us of a Christ who breaks down barriers of race, class, and gender by inviting us to His table to share one loaf and one cup.
Healing and Hope Jesus, the Morning Star, is the healing light for broken people in a broken world. We will be the healing presence of God in broken hearts and lives. We will be in ministry with people who may have been discouraged by other spiritual experiences. People whom other religious institutions have not welcomed will find a home in our church.
Redeemed and radical light-bearers In the cross, those far away from God have been brought near by the blood of Jesus. As the Wise Men sought the Morning Star, people still come to the Light of Jesus. The new life given to us in Jesus frees us as believers to change and be innovative in reaching people in His name, to be His light to the world.
Invitational and Incarnational We are the body of Christ in the world, but we also encounter the body of Christ in the world. We welcome Jesus as He is embodied in the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, and the prisoner. We desire to bring Good News to the poor, proclaim release to the captives, recovery of sight to the blind, and freedom to the oppressed.
Small groups We will gather to practice the Spiritual Disciplines of the early church: reading the Bible, sharing fellowship, breaking bread, and praying. We believe that we will encounter Jesus through these practices and be empowered for ministry.
Trust We believe that God will provide all things through Christ who strengthens us. Where God guides, He will provide, out of the glorious riches of His Son Jesus. Trust means that we will be assured of things we hope for and have a conviction regarding things we have not yet seen.
Spirit-filled Our life as a church will be empowered and enlivened by the presence of the Holy Spirit: in our worship, in our life together, and in the fruit of the Spirit evidenced in each of our lives. We believe that all the gifts of the Holy Spirit documented in the Bible are still given by the Holy Spirit to the church today. The presence of the Spirit will be signaled by the transformation of our lives and the world, as we serve a God who is always doing a new thing.
